Last weekend, Achimgaz, our German-Russian joint venture in which Wintershall Dea and Gazprom subsidiary Gazprom Dobycha Urengoy each have a 50 per cent shareholding, has produced its 20th million ton of condensate. This is a further milestone for the development of the company and for its 400 employees in the vicinity of the city of Novy Urengoy in the Arctic Circle, 3,500 kilometres east of Moscow.
Founded in 2003, Achimgaz has so far also produced 45 bcm of natural gas from Block 1A in the Achimov Formation in the Urengoy field. Following the completion of its drilling campaign in 2019, the company plans to reach a yearly plateau production of approximately ten billion cubic meters of natural gas.
Currently, Achimgaz operates 108 production wells. This year, a sixth train in the processing and treatment plant UKPG-31 will be commissioned.
